[Abstract] There is a wide regional gap between the capital and non-capital areas of Korea. For this reason, each local government has followed various policies implemented in the overall infrastructure-developed Seoul metropolitan area to promote regional development. However, it is hard to expect a reduction in the regional gap and independent regional development if local governments operate policies in a similar manner to the Seoul metropolitan area. Each local government should be able to utilize its infrastructure and content within the region to seek continuous and independent regional revitalization. This study began with the search for the role of design for regional revitalization, and is aimed at proposing product design using regional technology and regional technology. The proposed design was interviewed by a manufacturer in the region to collect opinions on the feasibility of manufacturing, In addition, the utility and aesthetics of the tool were verified through product designer expert assessment. [요약] 우리나라의 수도권과 비수도권 사이의 지역격차가 좁혀지지 않고 있다. 이에 각 지자체는 수도권에 대한 재정적 의존도를 낮추고 지역발전을 도모하기 위해 전반적으로 인프라가 발달한 수도권에서 시행하는 여러 가지 사업과 정책을 답습해왔다. 그러나 수도권과 비슷한 방식의 산업구조나 지자체가 앞장선 정책 운영방식으로는 지역격차 감소는 물론 자립적인 지역발전을 기대하기 어렵다. 각 지자체는 지역 내에서의 인프라와 콘텐츠를 활용하여 보다 지속적이고 근력있는 지역 활성화를 도모할 수 있어야 한다. 본 연구는 지역 활성화를 위한 디자인의 역할 모색에서 시작하였으며, 지역기술 활용 방안과 지역기술을 활용한 제품 디자인을 제안하는데 목적이 있다. 연구의 진행은 지역기술로 생산 된 제품을 사용자 요구에 따라 디자인 전반에 걸쳐 재구성하고 도구의 디자인을 제안하였다. 지역 내 제조업체 인터뷰를 통해 제조 가능성에 대한 의견을 수렴하였고, 제품디자이너 전문가 평가를 통해 도구의 효용성과 심미성을 검증하였다.
