Recently, graffiti art has not only been recognized as a form of art, but also as a public art and has been used for commercial purposes through art collaboration. However, perspective of society regarding graffiti is not quite positive. Although there are full-time graffiti artists, many others are criticized as they do illegal graffiti activities or illegal tag. This study analyzed press reports about awareness of graffiti in Korean society reported in newspaper, broadcasting and telecommunication over the past three years. According to analysis many has shown a lot of interest in graffiti artists and exhibitions. In particular, it has also been utilized in public art and some for industrial purpose. Nevertheless, most of views on current events in Korean society towards graffiti were negatively analyzed. Given that graffiti is commonly used to reinforce cultural competitiveness in many other countries, it seems necessary to speed up the improvement of the perception of graffiti art in Korean society as well.
