Abstract This paper aims to explore the symbolism of blue in “Three Colors: Blue” trilogy directed by Kievslowski, based on C. G. Jung’s analytical psychology. It intends to not only illuminate the psychological functions of healing and self-integration inherent in the color blue but also present symbolism of blue as a color of liminality mentioned by Murray Stein, Jungian psychologist. This study is supposed to help provide a theoretical ground utilizing the color blue in the design field from a new perspectives. It also seeks to shed new light on the meaning of color in Kieślowski’s visual aesthetics, contributing to the deepening of academic discourse on his film recognized for outstanding artistic achievement.
